Pediatric Bipolar I or Schizophrenia

Pediatric Bipolar I or Schizophrenia

Research is being conducted to evaluate the effect of an investigational medication compared to olanzapine on change in weight gain assessed by body mass index (BMI) scored in pediatric children 13 to 17 years old with schizophrenia and 10 to 17 years old with bipolar I disorder.

Children must either be taking antipsychotic medication and need a switch or much have the addition of an antipsychotic medication indicated for their treatment.

All children will receive one session of behavioral weight counseling and prevention of weight gain may be provided during the course of the study.
