PRP And Amnion Injections

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and amnion injections are two types of regenerative injections used to facilitate and/or accelerate healing in damaged tissues. The substances used in both injections offer a drug-free treatment approach that helps to heal bones and joints by reducing inflammation and stimulating new tissue growth.

PLATELET-RICH PLASMA (PRP)

Platelet-rich plasma is obtained by isolating and concentrating plasma from your own blood. Blood plasma contains several proteins associated with blood clotting and cell growth, both of which are important to help the body heal itself.

AMNION

Amnion is obtained through donations from women after they have delivered a child through cesarean sections. Amniotic fluid contains a mixture of regenerative cells that reduce inflammation and scars, while stimulating tissue growth. Additionally, amniotic fluid contains hyaluronic acids, which is the lubricating fluid found between cartilage joints that also promotes cartilage formation.

Did You Know?

PRP injections are becoming increasingly popular among athletes who are looking for a way to accelerate their healing. In fact, famous athletes like Tiger Woods and Rafael Nadal have used PRP injections to heal their sports-related injuries.

What Can I Expect When Getting A PRP Or Amnion Injection From Aspen Medical Group?

When getting a PRP injection from Aspen Medical Group, you can expect to first give a small sample of blood. This blood sample will be processed in a centrifuge to isolate and concentrate the plasma. The PRP will be harvested from the blood sample and then injected into the affected area. When getting an amnion injection, the sample will be prepared ahead of time and will simply need to be injected into the affected area.

What Can I Expect After Getting A PRP Or Amnion Injection?

Immediately after your injection, you may experience some minor pain, irritation, or bleeding at the injection site that will generally fade within a few minutes. After leaving our office, you can resume your normal activities within 48 hours. It will generally take about 2-3 weeks before you notice results, however tissue regeneration will continue for months after the injection. Both PRP and amnion injections are safe and do not cause adverse side effects since they are made of biological components recognized by the body.
